David Leggio is the President and Head Instructor for Leggio Goaltending. David is currently playing his 10th year of professional hockey, and 3rd for Red Bull Munich in the German Elite League, where his team won a championship the last two seasons. David also had the incredible honor of representing Team USA at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. The Williamsville, New York native played three seasons in the Buffalo Sabres organization having spent two seasons with the Rochester Americans, where he was twice named the teams MVP. David has also played in the American Hockey League for Portland,Hershey and Bridgeport. He began his pro career with Florida (ECHL), and TPS Turku (SM-Liiga) where he won his first pro championship. David has twice had the honor to represent the United States National Team in the IIHF Mens World Championships, and also competed for the stars and stripes at the Deutschland Cup twice.
Collegiately Leggio played four seasons with ECAC Division 1 power Clark-son University, helping the club to two championships and earning the Ken Dryden award for the league’s top goalkeeper.David grew up in the Amherst Knights organization, and graduated High School from St. Joe’s where he played three years of Federation varsity and was twice first team All-WNY.
David has been coaching goaltenders for over a decade, helping guide numerous goaltenders to the pro, college and junior ranks. Through his playing career he has had the privilege to work with some of the most respected goalie coaches in the world, which he applies to his teachings. Leggio’s work ethic and attention to detail gives each student the most modern techniques and drills available and will push them to be the best they can be.
